OUR COMMITTEES

Academic Activities (AA)

The Academic Activities Committee organises events which are tailored for the skill and network development of law students. Such events can be formal (e.g. the annual Diplomats Day, debates, workshops, lectures and tutorials) and informal (e.g. drinks and Christmas dinners). The Committee, which is typically comprised of a few Active Members, is supervised by the Vice President for AA.

The Director of Social Activities works in collaboration with the AA Committee, by planning creative and exciting events (e.g. parties, pub crawls and karaoke nights), and by finding venues,  acquiring discounts/best possible prices and coordinating events with other student associations.

Auditors

The Auditors Committee manages the finances of our local group for each block. Our auditors are impartial and trustworthy, and have no personal interest in the use of ELSA Groningen's budget. The Committee, which is comprised of two Active Members, is supervised by the Treasurer.

Marketing

The Marketing Committee handles all matters related to public relations and publication. Such matters include the regular maintenance of our website and social media platforms, poster design for announcements and event promotion, establishment of partnerships with other organizations, and the preservation of the ELSA identity by ensuring the correct use of (copyrighted) materials. The Committee, which is comprised of a couple of Active Members, is supervised by the Vice President for Marketing.

Seminars and Conferences

The Seminars & Conferences Committee organises larger-scale events for law students. Such events include large lectures, symposiums, institutional visits, study visits, office trips, excursions, and the organisation of the Summer Law School. The Committee, often comprised of several Active Members, is supervised by the Vice President of S&C.

STEP

The Student-Trainee Exchange Program (STEP) is an ELSA staple, offering accredited legal work experience to law students and young lawyers. The STEP Committee provides online and on-site traineeships at a variety of organisations, based in different jurisdictions and legal sectors. The Committee, comprised of a couple of Active Members, is supervised by the Vice President for STEP.

Support Team

Our brand-new Support Team assists first-year LLB students with matters relating to the university, the course materials, technical issues (e.g. Nestor, Rooster, Ocasys) or even bike rentals within the city. Inquiries can be e-mailed to a common address and are to be resolved within 12 hours. The Team, comprised of up to ten communicative students with exemplary first-year grades, is monitored and supervised by the Director of Tutoring.
